The East-West Immunogenetics Conference is one of the most well-known events in East-Central Europe and its purpose is to connect experts from the East-European countries with the Western countries. This tradition was initiated in 2006 in Prague, Czech Republic, and since then its popularity is constantly increasing.
This year Budapest was the host of the 14th conference. Omixon was one of the Platinum Sponsors and we were proud and happy to sponsor the Conference Dinner too, opened by Dr. Anikó Szilvási (Hungarian National Blood Transfusion Service, President of the Organizing Committee) and Dr. Joannis Mytilineos (Head of Transplantation Immunology Department, IKT Ulm, EFI President).
With 20 from our team, this EWIC meeting was the most well-attended by Omixon – the whole Bioinformatician Team participated among our FAS, sales and marketing professionals.
Our Lunchtime Symposium, titled “Genome-Wide Approaches for Identification of Disease-Associated Gene Variants: Basic Concepts and Example” on Friday, March 6 was presented by Frantisek Mrazek (University Hospital Olomouc), Vera Siffnerova (Omixon) and Libor Kolesar (Omixon) in front of 120 people – we even shared updates on our new multiplexing product, OmniType.
Two printed posters by Kinga András (Junior Bioinformatician) and Réka Nagy (Medior Bioinformatician) and two oral abstract presentations by Lívia Lázár (Medior Bioinformatician) and Gergely Tölgyesi (Technical Lead Assay RnD) were additional highlights during the conference.
At our table, which was packed with various Omixon swag (badges, highlighters, and even temporary tattoos!), we spent a significant amount of time connecting with existing and new customers.
We closed a very successful EWIC Conference – thank you all for coming to our table, attending our talk and extra special thanks to the organizers for making this conference happen. We hope you had a great time in Budapest!
