We decided to publish our recent paper, HLA Typing from 1000 Genomes Whole Genome and Whole Exome Illumina Data, in the open access PLoS One journal. PLoS One provided us with some useful statistics about:
- how many people viewed the article,
- who shared our figures
- who cited the paper
- who shared it on Twitter or Facebook
- and how people found the paper through Google’s search engine
Based on these, plenty of potential collaborators could approach us and the next project is already in progress.
